The St. Irene Women’s Club was established in 1946 to give the parish women an opportunity to meet socially and to work on projects that helps the church, both financially and socially, and provides for people in need who live in the communities of St. Irene parishioners.
In this Covid period we have attempted to provide socialization for our members through Zoom meetings. We also had an ice cream social outside at Kimball’s in Carlisle. Together in October, we made Fall/Halloween decorations on Zoom. Future Zoom events include a tour of the Holy Land by one of our members in November, making Christmas decoration or holiday food in December, a video of Father Tom’s greatest theatrical presentations in January and a cooking lesson in February.
We’re planning how we can help bring the parish together once the Covid restrictions are lifted. The first thing we intend to do is an Italian dinner in the church hall. Future events will include a tea and fashion show. We also hope to resume our normal cycle of events in Sept. 2021. Events in the 2021/2022 season will include a ham and bean dinner. Together we'll make apple pies and boxwood trees and conduct a Trash to Treasures White Elephant sale to raise funds for local charities. In the past we've given to Lowell Pro-Life, local food pantries and the Carlisle 3-Church Fund for Needy Families. And of course, we’ll do fun things such as a bingo/pizza night and a Hors D’oeuvres night.
